Terms of Use
These terms apply to the EVDash iPhone app and the website evdash.nl (together “EVDash”). By using EVDash you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
1. Who provides EVDash
EVDash is a free, personal, non-commercial project of Berkant Yanbul (the Netherlands), not a registered company. Contact: [email protected].
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 18 years old, or have permission from a parent or guardian. You may only pair EVDash with a car you own or are allowed to use, with the owner's permission.
3. What EVDash does
EVDash is a dashboard on your iPhone. It reads live data from your car over Bluetooth with a read-only phone key and shows it, together with speed-camera alerts. It needs no Tesla account login and no EVDash account, and it does not send your car data to us.
Features can change, be improved or be removed. Beta and TestFlight versions are test versions and may contain errors or stop working.
4. The phone key
- The app creates its own key on your iPhone and asks your car to accept it. You confirm this in the car with your key card; without that the car never accepts the key.
- The key has Tesla's read-only role (“vehicle monitor”). The app can only read data. It cannot unlock, start, drive or change settings, and it never tries to.
- You are responsible for every key you add to a car. You can remove the key in the car under Controls › Locks, and in the app. Removing it in the app does not remove it from the car; do both if you stop using EVDash.
- Reading data depends on your car, its software version and Tesla's protocol, which Tesla can change at any time. Some values may be missing or late.
5. Driving safely
- EVDash is a secondary display. It does not replace your car's own screen, warnings or instruments. If EVDash and your car disagree, your car is right.
- Mount your phone in a holder and set everything up before you drive. Do not operate the app while driving, and follow local traffic law on phone use.
- You remain responsible for driving your car at all times.
6. Speed-camera alerts
- Speed-camera locations come from OpenStreetMap contributors. They can be missing, out of date or wrong, and mobile cameras are not included.
- Alerts are a driving aid, not a guarantee. You alone are responsible for your speed and for following speed limits and traffic signs.
- Whether speed-camera alerts are allowed differs by country. You are responsible for checking the law where you drive and for turning alerts off where they are not allowed.
7. Acceptable use
Do not use EVDash for anything unlawful or to read a car without permission; do not try to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to our systems or misuse our server; do not reverse-engineer the app except where the law allows it.
8. Intellectual property
The software, design and content of EVDash belong to us or our licensors. Data from third parties is used under their licences (see Data sources). Tesla and its model names are trademarks of Tesla, Inc. and are used only to describe compatibility.
9. No warranty
EVDash is provided free of charge, “as is” and “as available”. We do not guarantee that it works with every car, model year, software version or region, or that it is always available, complete or accurate.
10. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damage, loss of data, or decisions based on what EVDash shows, including fines, penalty points or other consequences of relying on speed-camera alerts. Our total liability is limited to €12. This does not limit liability that cannot be limited by law (for example for intent or gross negligence, or death or personal injury caused by our negligence), and it does not affect your mandatory rights as a consumer.
11. The iOS app and Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. If the app fails to meet an applicable warranty, you can notify Apple. Apple is not responsible for claims about the app, including product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you. Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies where it does not conflict with these terms.
12. Ending and changes
You can stop at any time by deleting the app (and removing the phone key from your car). We may change these terms and will announce important changes on the website or in the app before they take effect.
13. Law and disputes
Dutch law applies. Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live. Questions: [email protected].
